I believe that jewelry should bring you joy and reflect who you are

All my pieces are mostly unique. One of a kind. They all have thier own personality just like those who wear them.

But they all have some similarities too. There are repeating patterns, and spirals, and... they all end up looking like vulvas eventually 😄

I think of how we are cyclical beings, learning lessons again and again, each time in a deeper way. Or how we are fractals of our loved ones and ancestors, connected through a lineage of people. My patterns and spirals are like this.

The symbol of the vulva is a powerful symbol. Subtlety hinted at in many of my pendants, but present none the less to those who know. The yoni is a portal of divinity. Of life. Of miracles. I believe this brings great magic into my pieces without having to be too direct.

I also hope that it empowers the women who wear them. For many generations of women have been shamed and blamed for being who they are.

So these pendants are a reclamation of our femininity and an expression of our unique authenticity. ✊

Introduction post + some artisan origin background story!

My name is Jasmine and I've been creating micro macrame for 7 years.

The first time I saw a piece of macrame jewelry, I was traveling across bc and another woman I had met at some hot springs was weaving the cages for stones on a clipboard in the middle of paradise. I was enthralled at the beauty of the stones and the simplicity of the craft.

I found it again at Shamhala a few years later where a man was selling macrame jewelry there. It looked so complicated but so magnificent. I told him I wanted to make art like that one day and he encouraged me to try. I am forever grateful for that encouragement.

Today, besides weaving, I enjoy the art of homeschooling my oldest boy, homemaking for my family, and building deeper friendships with the people in my life. I passionately sing throughout my day to keep myself sane and make herbal teas from herbs I grow or forage.

Macrame is something I truly love to do and it isn't a full time job for me by any means. I am immensely grateful for my magnificent partner @wildrootsnatureschool who works to provide for us so I can rest in my creative desires and stay home with my kids the way I am able to do.

I am always so touched when people connect with the pieces I make. I hear so many stories of how people are emotionally impacted by a certain piece they connect with. A piece that I dreamed and created. It feels like more than jewelry, something special.

Creator put us on this earth to enjoy this life, to fall in love and learn to let go. I have come to see that finding special 'things' we love and connect with is a part of that loving and letting go journey. Since we don't get to take things with us when we leave this world, but we can experience thier beauty and significance while we're here. It's a beautiful thing. Learning detachment while savoring joy.

Unfortunately the necklace that went missing was never returned. But thankfully there was a lot of great music happening throughout the day and I got to dance my grief and rage. I feel mostly at peace about it now. These things happen, comes with the territory I guess.

All in all it was an amazing weekend with amazing folks and I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to share my art with so many of you and hear how it impacts you.

Māyā - "Magic" or "Illusion"

Macramaya (pronounced "māyā") is a combination of the words macrame and māyā- which points to the illusory nature of the material world and ultimately the true nature of being as timeless, formless and undefined by finite experience.

It invites the witness to ask the question "Who am I?"

and it plays with the juxtaposition of jewelry, which is to adorn the body, and the timeless essence of the soul, which is beyond the need for beauty and adornments.

I'm so grateful for the spirit of this sweet artistic offering. It has been a grounding companion to me throughout the years, not just financially but spiritually and creatively.

and it has stayed consistent when everything else was shifting and changing.

When I started this creative outlet I didn't know how important a role it would play in my emotional and even spiritual wellbeing. But here it is, as I contemplate the roots and the whats and the whys of my work in the world. It is the gentle reminder of the subtle nature of being and a great teacher and friend.

I am blessed to share this journey and this art with you

I'm proud of myself for how far I've come in this art form. 🤌

I used to cut corners when I made pieces.

I was lazy and didn't want to add the extra thread here or there to make it really come together.

No one else would have noticed, but I knew.

I am very meticulous now. Not afraid to take the extra time to make a piece that I'm really proud of.

Every knot is counted so that each side is even.

Sometimes I will untie a whole section of knots if I'm not enjoying the direction its going.

This commitment to creating a beautiful, quality piece of art has helped me grow in my art and as a person.

I'm proud of myself for how far I've come in this art form. 🤌

I used to cut corners when I made pieces.

I was lazy and didn't want to add the extra thread here or there to make it really come together.

No one else would have noticed, but I knew.

I am very meticulous now. Not afraid to take the extra time to make a piece that I'm really proud of.

Every knot is counted so that each side is even.

Sometimes I will untie a whole section of knots if I'm not enjoying the direction its going.

This commitment to creating a beautiful, quality piece of art has helped me grow in my art and as a person.
